In Spanish, “añejo” means “aged” or “old.” To be classified as añejo, a tequila must be aged for between 18 and 24 months. This type of tequila is a middle ground of flavor between Reposado tequilas, aged for under a year, and Extra Añejo tequilas, typically aged for between one and three years.
